Phillip Clyde Bernier!
Before moving to Nashville and into his global television exposure, Phillip grew up in Sterling, VA, just outside of Washington, D.C., performing and mastering his craft of singing, dancing, songwriting, and even acting. From an early age, he took on leading roles in show choir, community theater, musicals, and even local bands, both as singer and drummer, writing his first song at the age of 12. He was nominated for and won a number of awards as a vocalist before even graduating high school.
He dreamed of one day performing for large crowds, and his pursuit of that dream, along with the encouragement of family, friends, and teachers, lead him to major in music industry at James Madison University. During college, he received classical vocal & piano training, alongside his education in music business, audio engineering, production, and management. He expanded his dance experience through performances and training in operas, ballets, and ballroom dance. While there, he also learned to create music in new ways through his first professional experiences in a recording studio both as singer and percussionist. Adding training "behind-the-board" in the studio introduced his love of capturing great music, in addition to creating it. This quickly turned into his first experience in professional radio, adding "DJ" to his resume and yet another facet of the entertainment business to his belt.
Three weeks after final exams and graduating with his Bachelor of Music degree, he wasted no time in moving to Nashville to put his education to the test. Exactly a week after jumping into his Jeep and hitting the road for Music City, he got an internship at a well known recording studio on Music Row. There he met, worked with, and learned from some of the industry's top producers and engineers, giving him the skills to move from passenger to driver's seat on his road to success in the music business. Doing session work, again as a vocalist & drummer, allowed him to continue meeting new people and even travel with other up-and-coming artists. Less than a year after moving to Nashville, his life of hard work, education, and experience would be put to the ultimate test in two major life changing ways: embarking on an Armed Forces Entertainment world tour and being discovered by the scouting agents of ABC for Dance War.
Since then, Phillip's dreams have continued to come true, having performed for millions of fans all over the world, writing & recording his own music, and even giving back to those that encouraged him from the start in his Do What You Dream Tour. When asked where the album and tour title came from, Phillip said, "I'll never be just another self-involved celebrity. I strive to be a positive influence on as many people as I can for as long as I can and really make a difference in the lives of others." He went on to say, "One of my most bizaar and amazing experiences was to have the honor of being the commencement speaker for MY high school's graduation, just 6 years after graduating there myself! It was so amazing to be able to go back to my home town as living proof that your dreams really can come true... if you chase them down and never ever give up! By the grace of God, I hope to bring that shining light of hope to each and every country, state, city, & individual I visit for a long long time."
What's been said of Phillip's performances:
"I've never seen you sing so well. You rocked it, Phillip! Tonight, on that song, you rocked it. Great job!"
-- Carrie Ann Inaba [Dancing with the Stars judge]
"Phillip impressed me instantly. I knew there was something there very very special. You really have lifted my spirits... you were BORN to dance! A DREAM boy!"
-- Bruno Tonioli [Dancing with the Stars judge]
"If the music of Timberlake, the writing of Mraz, & the beats of the Black-Eyed Peas were bottled, shaken (not stirred), & poured into your glass, you'd find yourself sipping on a PCB mixed drink with a kick that always goes down smooth!"
